Admin note: Fleece be with you
Okay, we had a slight ruffling of wool around here this morning. I'd like to clarify a few things:
- Dreamsheep are many, but they are not an official mascot! I know, I know, it's hard to believe, but they're not. Dreamsheep are a fan venture, and do not speak for
denise and
mark.
This said, we are a pretty big advocate for Dreamwidth, and it behooves (ha! "hooves") us to bear in mind that, where advocacy is concerned, the Dreamwidth community has a strong preference for focusing on Dreamwidth's positives and not other places' negatives. - Which sheep are welcome here? The only sheep not welcome here are dreamsheep that espouse hate-crime/hate-group sentiments. A dreamsheep that expresses a negative opinion about other journaling sites is by no stretch of the imagination a hateful sheep -- but any sheep which are negative are, IMO, counter to the spirit of the community and the metaphor that inspired the first dreamsheep, which was about how sheep are awesome, and not how other mammals are uncool.
No hard-and-fast rule for now, but if negative sheep get to be a serious percentage of what we see around the meadow, I'll revisit this. - In what is kind of a hilariously, and unintentionally (really!), symbolic gesture, I'd like to welcome
thedivinegoat as a fellow mod here at
dreamsheep. :) Many thanks!
